Organize household documents

Important household documents and papers (bills, warranties, personal documents, manuals) are a mess. Help me create a simple system to organize them: how to categorize, what to keep and what to discard, where to store (physical and digital), and how to keep it organized. Goal: never desperately search for an important document again.
