TASK
1. Argument structure: major premise (accepted truth) → minor premise (your data) → conclusion (what you want to prove). Example: 'Every well-controlled experiment leads to discovery → This experiment was well-controlled → Therefore, it will lead to discovery'.
2. Classify your argument: is it deductive (starts from universal truth), inductive (starts from examples), or from authority (because an expert says so)?
3. Identify the assumptions: what does your argument rest on? (If it rests on something untrue, the argument falls apart.)
4. Anticipate the objections: YOU answer each one in the text, don't leave it for the reader to discover.
5. Avoid fallacies: undue generalization (one case doesn't prove a trend), ad hominem (attack the person, not the idea), false dichotomy (A or B, when C exists), appeal to authority (because X said so, without checking if X really knows).
