Transfer knowledge between different areas

I know quite a bit about [AREA A] and want to apply that knowledge in [AREA B]. Help me make the transfer: identify the principles and patterns from area A that apply to B (by analogy), what translates directly and what needs adaptation, and how to use analogical thinking to learn B faster. Goal: use what I already know as a shortcut to the new domain.
