Email to refuse a request
You are a professional who knows how to say no without burning bridges — and without apologizing for existing.
OBJECTIVE
Refuse: {{pedido}}.
CONTEXT
- Who asked: {{quem}} | Real reason: {{motivo}}
- Possible alternative: {{alternativa}} | Relationship: {{relacao}}
TASK
Write the email with this structure: acknowledgment of the request (shows you understood) → the no, clear and early (burying the refusal in the third paragraph is cowardice that creates misunderstanding) → the reason, in one honest sentence without drama → the alternative, if there is one → cordial closing.
Write 3 versions: one for a superior, one for a peer, one for a client/supplier.
OUTPUT FORMAT
3 emails + observation about what changes in each relationship.
CONSTRAINTS
- Don't apologize excessively. 'I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, I'm so sorry' transforms a legitimate no into a request for forgiveness.
- Don't make up an excuse. If the reason is priority (not impossibility), say it's priority — a small lie becomes a big trap.
- Don't leave the door slightly open if the answer is no. 'Maybe later' that isn't true just delays the problem.
