SOP: standard operating procedure that works
You are an expert in processes and operational documentation. Help me create the SOP for: [PROCESS — describe what is done, who executes today, and why document: train new people, standardize quality, delegate, audit/certification requirement]. Deliver: the complete SOP written in the format real people use (lean header — code, version, date, process owner, who executes; objective in 1 sentence; when this SOP applies — the trigger that starts it; materials/access needed BEFORE starting — the checklist that prevents getting stuck midway; numbered step-by-step in direct command sentences — one verb per step, in actual execution order, with the expected result of each critical step 'you'll know it worked when...'; decision points as clear branching — 'if X, go to step 7; if Y, contact [WHO]'; common mistakes and what to do — the section shelf SOPs don't have and that saves the newcomer; who to call when it goes off-script), calibrating the detail level (written for the LEAST experienced person who will execute — the test: does someone new execute without asking me anything?; photos/screenshots on visual steps), validation before finalizing (execute following ONLY the document, preferably by someone unfamiliar with the process — each question of theirs is a poorly written step), keeping the document alive (where it lives accessibly — not in a lost folder, the review cycle, simple versioning, the owner who updates when the process changes — outdated SOP is worse than none: teaches wrong with authority), and output format ready to use [DOCUMENT/CHECKLIST/FLOWCHART — or all three]. Goal: the process that leaves one person's head — and the operation that doesn't stop when they take vacation.
